Grand Central Station

Grand Central Station (GCS), since opening our doors in 2009, has served over 700,000 client meals and has over 100,000 hours of volunteer and group service. It provides a HUB of support for the underserved in our community. This HUB supports five programs: The Dining Car, The Market Depot (previously called the Green House), Children’s Express, Tools 4 Schools, and Matthew 25 (our newest addition). All programs provide for the underserved within our county, with 80 % of our guests being 55 or older. Almost 30 % of the guests are Veterans. As this country’s homelessness crisis collides with the crisis of a rising economic system, we strive to assist our community now more than ever! The facility and its army of volunteers provide hot meals, groceries, emergency clothing, hygiene supplies, laundry facilities, showers, advocacy, resources, and referrals to other local agencies. Subsidized food from North Texas Food Bank plus grants and donated items from local retail stores, restaurants, food producers, and individuals enables our kitchen, pantry, and children’s program to serve meals inexpensively and provide for “our neighbors” free of charge. We do not receive any state or federal funding. Even in ideal circumstances, meeting the basic needs of our underserved is a daunting challenge, and we rely on our community as best we can.
